Reading a soap ingredient label
A practical introduction to INCI names and why the final pack remains the primary source.

Cosmetic ingredient lists use standardised names so that the same ingredient can be recognised across markets. Read the complete list on the pack offered for sale rather than relying on general descriptions.
What to look for
Check that the online declaration matches the current package. Botanical names, processed soap ingredients and fragrance declarations can look unfamiliar; unfamiliar does not by itself indicate quality or risk.
If you have a known sensitivity, consult the label and an appropriately qualified professional rather than treating a general article as individual advice.
